Day 282- Back on the trails

We have been back out on the trails hiking and enjoying the excercise. The major loop (Fatman’s loop) originally took us 1 1/2 hours and our record has slowly been dropping. With that said, as you hike here in Flagstaff you start to breath heavy almost immediately. The air is thin at 7000 ft and my New York lungs need a lot of adjusting. It’s getting better as the weeks go by but, when Jenn and I hike steadily up the mountain it always requires a brake here and there.

I really enjoy the challenge of improving on our record each time we hike. The temperature has been dropping everyday this week and with high temps in the mid 40’s it’s not easy to push through without water breaks. It’s supposed to get warmer as the week progresses but, it’s very slow to warm up here. I can’t believe that in the middle of April it still drops below freezing every night. Last night it was 28 degrees. Brrr…

We have been watching movies, playing board games and generally keeping up with business tasks to stay busy. We force the kids out once a day to ride their bikes, take a walk, rollerblade or something similar to get out the energy. If they don’t get out and run around then they don’t sleep well at night. Thankfully, that’s never a problem anymore.
